Duties

Incumbent is responsible for the maintenance, repair, alteration and construction of exterior and interior surfaces and structures built of brick, stone and block. Repairs and maintains historic masonry on buildings, parapets, and boundary fences, chimneys, and fireplaces. Must be able to match existing historic surfaces.
Must have a comprehensive knowledge of mixing techniques, applications, etc. Must have extensive skills in cutting and shaping block, brick, and stone. Incumbent must be able to remove portions of walls, partitions or other similar structures and repair in kind, and for the installation of doors and windows.
Must be able to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and specifications independently and determine the layout and work sequences.
In addition to laying whole brick in straight, horizontal rows, must be able to perform a variety of more complex brickwork.
Must be able match existing historic surfaces.
Must have a comprehensive knowledge of concrete.
Must have extensive skills in cutting and shaping block and stone.
