You will serve as an Environmental Protection Specialist within NAVSUP WEAPON SYSTEMS SUPPORT.

Duties

You will develop and maintain procedures for entry, use, and management of hazardous material within Department of the Navy (DON) and Department of Defense (DOD) systems, including Navy ERP and Hazardous Material Information Resource System (HMIRS). You will participate in working groups involving Fleet, Field personnel, and representatives from other Commands regarding environmental and hazardous interests. You will perform Quality Assurance (QA) of hazardous material data to verify the accuracy of chemical, environmental, and logistics data in DON and DOD systems. You will manage and analyze environmental information and ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations. You will be responsible for communicating complex technical issues through verbal and written communication, including Standard Office Procedures, technical documents, training, and presentations.

Requirements

Qualifications

For the GS-12 Grade Level: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Utilizing working knowledge of supply and hazardous material management systems, policies, and procedures; 2) Providing technical support through development of technical documents, data analysis, site visits, and training to ensure compliance of environmental regulations; 3) Analyzing logistics, environmental, and chemical information to provide program metrics, evaluate program effectiveness, and make recommendations for improvement; 4) Developing practices and procedures for inputting, managing, and maintaining hazardous material data within the appropriate systems and databases; 5) Performing quality assurance reviews of hazardous material data to ensure the validity and accuracy of data in accordance with regulations, business rules, and standardized practices; and 6) Communicating with team members, field representatives, and other Commands to ensure environmental compliance with Department of the Navy hazardous material programs. For the GS-11 Grade Level: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Utilizing working knowledge of supply and hazardous material management systems, policies, and procedures; 2) Analyzing logistics, environmental, and chemical information to provide program metrics, evaluate program effectiveness, and make recommendations for improvement; 3) Performing quality assurance reviews of hazardous material data to ensure the validity and accuracy of data in accordance with regulations, business rules, and standardized practices; and 4) Communicating with team members, field representatives, and other Commands to ensure environmental compliance with Department of the Navy hazardous material programs. Education

For the GS-11 grade level only, in lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

or

Successful completion of 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

Possession of an LL.M., if related

or

A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience
