This position is located in the Environmental Management Service (EMS) of the VA Medical Center in West Palm Beach, FL.
Duties

Producing meeting minutes, management reports, procedure/flow charts, etc.;
Composing correspondence and other materials of administrative nature;
Receiving and directing/assisting visitors and phone calls;
Receiving and directing correspondence;
Maintaining the calendar of the Chief and Assistant Chief, scheduling/rescheduling appointments and meetings, and providing appointment reminders;
Relaying requests for housekeeping action to the appropriate supervisor/leader;
Responding to requests for information concerning EMS functions;
Preparing quality assurance reports, quantifying housekeeping inspection sheets, and incorporating findings into graphs and written reports;
Relaying messages and instructions from the Chief to personnel;
Compiling information from various sources to prepare reports and memoranda for distribution;
Managing and maintaining records and files;
Updating manuals, circulars, bulletins, and memoranda as needed;
Maintaining employee personnel records and files;
Using a computer to perform a variety of clerical duties;
Maintaining employee time and attendance records;
Processing procurements and reconciling costs and adjusting control points to account for credits/debits;
Ordering and signing for the delivery of office supplies;
Working as a team and providing courteous, efficient customer service and patient care;
Performs related duties as required.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm.

Qualifications
TYPING PROFICIENCY: In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), No person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English. You must be proficient in basic written and spoken English in order to meet the requirements of this position. ~AND~
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS GS-06: one year of specialized experience that equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level in Federal service. Specialized experience includes: performing clerical duties in support of an office/clinic; answering and directing phone calls and visitors; scheduling appointments; typing correspondence; maintaining files; and using an computer to perform clerical duties. This experience must be detailed in your resume to receive credit.

IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: The work of this position is primarily sedentary. It does not require any special physical qualifications except the ability to move around the office, perform typing and work processing, and carry light items such as files within the building. There is some walking and bending required. Long hours at a computer terminal may be required. The work is primarily performed in an office setting which requires normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, conference rooms, and classrooms; safe work practices with office equipment; and observance of fire regulations. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
