This position is located at Chinle Service Unit, Chinle Comprehensive Health Facility, Division of Administrative Services, Dietary Department, Chinle, AZ. The purpose of this position is to provide quality food service to patients, employees, and guests through food preparation, service and sanitation.

Duties

Plan, coordinates, and times work assignments to assure that food items are prepared per schedule and at the proper temperature for serving. Read and utilizes standardized recipes. Maintains a sanitary and safe working environment for employees and the food production by using proper personal hygiene and universal precautions to protect self and all who come into contact with products being prepared in the department. Appropriately records and maintains data/documents required for CQI/TJC/PRMS and assist with data collection. Answer phone courteously and documents data for patient diet orders, food preferences and nutrition screening. Attends all mandatory in-services and trainings, as appropriate and required.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): WG-06: No Specific length of experience, education or training is required. Applicants will be rated on the basis of their response to the assessment questions included in the vacancy announcement and the information contained in their resume to determine if you are best qualified. It is important that you answer these questions to the best of your ability. List all pertinent experience and training on your resume, including your part-time paid or unpaid, school, hobbies, military, etc. Your resume must demonstrate experience performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Standard formal cooking techniques recognized by the American Culinary Federation. Knowledge of basic food handling principles, including food labeling, dating, proper refrigeration (safety-zone temperatures), storage, etc. Knowledge of using seasonings to enhance food flavors. Modifying diets according to recipes, quantities, and special request such as Diabetes, Low Sodium, Low fat, etc. Prioritizing duties and work objective, planning and organizing time and steps to maximize quality food outcomes. Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes or personal judgment, using various kitchen utensils and equipment. Physical Effort: Able to frequently lift and/or move objects weighing up to 40 lbs, unassisted and greater than 40 lbs assisted. Able to climb ladders, when required. Is subject to continuous standing, walking, frequent stooping, reaching, pushing, bending, twisting, and frequent sitting. Able to perform heavy duty cleaning, such as exhaust hood, greasy floors, ovens, etc. Working Conditions: Regularly exposed to noise variations, hot and cold temperatures, sharp cutting blades, hot liquids, and pans, humidity, potential hazardous chemicals, slippery floors and enclosed areas. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
