This position is in the Neuropsychology Clinic at Coatesville VA Medical Center. The incumbent will contribute to the care of veterans with a wide range of emotional and psychiatric problems The incumbent will be responsible for the administration of psychological assessment instruments, monitoring patients, conducting behavioral observation, providing education and support, and influencing adherence to treatment guidelines by providing "on time, on target" information to providers and staff.
Duties

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
The Psychology Technician will be responsible for collaborating with a wide range of staff in service of veteran care, including physicians, nurse practitioner, physicians assistants, nurses, social workers, and psychologists.
The major duties and responsibilities include:
Completes Structured diagnostic and clinical assessments with patients.
Requires knowledge of medical terminology, including psychiatric and medical diagnoses, symptomatology, and clinical presentation, and interaction among these health-related factors.
Assists psychologists in completing behavior rating scales or in conducting behavior modifications.
Provides patients with group or individually administered clinical assessment comprised of interviews, psychological testing, and questionnaires.
Administering standard tests which may include but not limited to Beck Depression Inventory, the Patient Health Questionnaire for Depression (PHQ(), the Short Form Medical Outcomes Survey (SF-12), the Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview (MINI), the Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Primary Care Checklist (PTSDD-PCL), Blessed Memory Test for Cognition, the Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT), standardized tests of intelligence (Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale), academic achievement, speech language functions, visuospatial/constructional skills, and executive functions, as well as cognitive screening tools and personality.
Responsible for engaging in accurate behavior observation during the course of assessment.
Coordinates disease management group activities, monitors disease management program consults
Responds to requests in a timely manner.
Update materials required for each group and assist in the delivery of groups within the scope of training and experience.
Responsible for preparing quantitative reports regarding program activity.
Requires knowledge of computer-based data management and clinical outcomes data, including inputting collected data into secured database systems in a timely manner.
Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures pertinent to the program, including quality assurance and program evaluation activities.
Contacts patients through written correspondence and telephone calls, My Healthy VET and conducts follow up interviews
Functions as a member of an interdisciplinary team
Communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
Requires a working knowledge of VISTA/CPRS.
Creates and maintains forms, surveys, instruments, and materials for proper coordination of care and completion of assignments.
Document Veteran's medical record in accordance with medical center policies, and the requirements of The Joint Commission.
Assist the neuropsychologist in administering and scoring of selected tests of a neuropsychology battery in accordance with clearly defined procedures.
Responsible for maintaining accurate record of relevant trainings and participate in continuing education in accordance with VA policies and will complete all mandatory VA training.
Comply with all laws and regulations related to confidentiality and release of information and protecting Veterans' personal identifying information.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, (10/26/2023).
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-7 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-6. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-5 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience that involved the observation of and assistance in the application of techniques relating to behavior, capacities, traits, interests, and activities of either humans or, under laboratory conditions, animals. Experience may have been gained in connection with a program of research or direct services in psychology that gave a practical understanding of some of the principles, methods, and techniques of psychology needed to assist professional psychologists. OR
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have one full year of graduate education in psychology from an accredited college or university. (Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work and be directly related to the duties of this position) COPY OF TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED. Graduate education or an internship meets the specialized experience required in those instances where it is directly related to the work of the position. One full year of graduate education meets the requirements for GS-7. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year full-time study requirement. Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended. OR,
Combining Experience and Education: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience are also qualifying. If education is used to meet specialized experience requirements, then such education must include courses directly related to the work of the position.

English Language Proficiency:
Must be proficient in English. In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), No person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English.
Physical Requirements:
Work is mostly sedentary and may frequently involve numerous hours working at a computer work station and on the telephone conducting interviews and assessing subjects.
Work Environment:
The incumbent will generally work in a standard office environment.
