Engineering Equipment Operator performs work to handle different sets of controls to operate the equipment and attachments involved in the operation of gasoline or diesel powered engineering and construction equipment with wheeled or crawler type traction. These include the operation of equipment such as graders, tractors, with bull dozer or angledozer blades, front-end loaders, backhoes, trench diggers, and large industrial tractors with pan or scraper attachments.

Duties

Operates one or more types of heavy equipment. Performs preventative maintenance prior to, during or after operation. Must have foot, hand, eye coordination to handle the various controls on the vehicles. Must be able to move the equipment about in confined areas. Operate equipment in a safe manner according to safety rules and regulations and use the equipment properly so that it is not damaged. Work is performed in all types of weather, often in an open driver's seat. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30 am - 4:00 pm , subject to change based on the needs of the agency.
