Duties
Identifies systemic weaknesses and problems and oversees validation of enterprise internal controls and systems safeguards.
Manages the vulnerability and incident reporting process and is the central point of contact for all IT Accounting Services applications and supporting reporting systems security incidents and violations for DFAS.
Provides technical input and writes documents to provide information, help prevent, and increase understanding of issues involved in computer security incidents.
Participates in various team settings as an expert on software, agile principles, DevSecOps, cloud and the adoption of new technology.
Serves as the IA point of contact for internal and external audit organizations and provides audit assistance, support, and coordination, as necessary, relating to security standards and requirements.
Prepares system documentation for purposes of improving software development processes in accordance with acceptable industry standards. Maintains status reports and prepares correspondence as necessary.
Obtains approval to operation for application software that runs on external hardware systems.
Evaluates system change/programming specifications, and specifies programming instructions, inputs and outputs, structures, and other analytical products to document the functional and cyber security requirements.

In addition to the Basic Competency Requirements listed above, one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade GS-11 in the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
Specialized experience is defined as performing analysis of operating and application systems software using a variety of fact finding and analytical techniques to determine security vulnerabilities; evaluating and recommending appropriate security measures and protection methods to meet program goals and objectives; participating in various team settings as an expert on software, agile principles, DevSecOps, cloud and the adoption of new technology; troubleshooting and resolving complex application, software, infrastructure, and/or platform problems; performing review of all coding and development to ensure compliance with standards and Cyber Security requirements,
