Duties
Manages, plans, implements, monitors, evaluates, and operates DFAS accounting and financial management programs
Participates with other DFAS directors and headquarters staff in the design of near and long-term strategies for modernizing DFAS accounting and finance service delivery systems.
Serves as the final technical authority on finance and accounting issues.
Participates in formal and informal management planning, policy and decision-making sessions regarding legislative changes, technological improvements, and changes in governmental policies and procedures.
Reviews and approves budget estimates and financial plans prepared by subordinate staff members. Presents and defends the organization’s budgetary requirements to higher authority.
Assures that internal controls are developed, maintained, and evaluated in accordance with DoD, DFAS and other Federal statutes and regulations.

Qualifications
One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-13) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.
Specialized Experience is defined as: Providing expert-level financial management consulting service, management advice, and assistance to supported customers in the application of financial management theories, concepts, principles and standards and resolution of the most complex issues related to operational finance work.
Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-13 or higher grade in Federal Service.
You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.
