Duties

Serves as a Supervisory Paralegal Specialist and the Office Administrator, providing program management and support to the Contracts, Litigation, Personnel, Installation Law, Administrative Law, and Business Integrity legal teams. Provides primary assistance to Senior Management in the analysis and organization of office functions and resources for the DLA Counsel-Aviation office and its site detachments. Manages and assigns paralegal and administrative support service tasks. Regularly review and assess subordinates’ work for quality, effectiveness, and timeliness. Prepare annual performance assessments for subordinates. Provides paralegal services for attorneys and clients directly and through subordinates. Ensure all internal and external reports are accurate, complete, and timely. Complete all training requirements for supervisors. Provides technical direction on complex issues and resolving differences of opinion among employees or between employees and clients or Agency contacts. Utilizes database management to accurately track and assess legal services. Participate in DLA paralegal, administrator, and leadership committee and working groups. Demonstrates and project leadership and mentorship with subordinates, office members. Projects professionalism and ability to positively influence and team with office members, Enterprise Legal Personnel and organizational contacts.

Qualifications

To qualify for a Supervisory Paralegal Specialist,your resume and supporting documentation must support: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Demonstrated ability to effectively serve in a key leadership position, paralegal experience, budget formation, Federal personnel management, office administration, procurement, collaboration skills, and Federal travel rules. Computer skills and ability to utilize and teach office staff in areas including, but not limited to, operating systems, database management, spreadsheet, presentation software, internal and external communication tools. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.

GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours that your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
