The purpose of the position is to perform work on conventional/typical preservation projects for a variety of historic structures.

Duties
The major duties of the Preservationist position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Maintenance and preservation of historic and non-historic structures. This position requires skills applied to the maintenance, stabilization, restoration, repair and/or reconstruction of various historic and non-historic structures that range widely in historic period architectural style, constructions materials and existing condition.
Performs carpentry/woodworking tasks such as reconstruction, restoring or rehabilitating wood structures (rafters, doors, windows, floors, staircases, trusses, beams, interior and exterior trim etc.).
Performs painting tasks which includes surface preparation and mixing of paints to approximate color and texture of historic paints.
Assists with inspections of historic structures/sites/landscapes onsite to determine physical condition and the type and amount of maintenance required to maintain them in proper condition.
