About the Position: The employee will work at the Directorate of Public Works Operations and Maintenance Division at JBLM, Washington.
Duties
Perform operator maintenance on equipment such as tractors and towed equipment.
Operate agricultural and industrial tractors with towed or mounted equipment.
Perform landscaping duties to mow on steep hillsides and on rough terrain; prune and/or remove trees and shrubs; spray pesticides (using truck-mounted sprayers).
Perform duties associated with grounds maintenance and landscaping; operate heavy trucks (dump truck, front end loader).
Requirements
- Appointment to this position is subject to a Tier 1 background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Tractor Operator without more than normal supervision. Ability to perform common landscape and clean-up duties such as remove storm damage, leaves, ice and snow; irrigate and care for all plant materials; replace sprinkler heads. Ability to operate power tools such as chain saws, blowers, vacuum blower, weed eaters, edger's, and power hedgers to trim hedges and prune shrubs and trees. Ability to use power pressure washer to wash and clean exterior of building, planter boxes and sidewalks. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Efforts: Work requires considerable sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping and other awkward and uncomfortable positions. Good foot, hand and eye coordination is required to operate tractors. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally heavier. Frequently pushes heavy equipment and other material.
Working Conditions: Duties are performed outdoors with exposure to temperature extremes and all types of weather conditions. Exposed to dust, dirt and mud; cuts, bruises, back strains. Exposed to injury from flying debris, hand and power tools and automobile accidents.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone - no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
