The Battle Creek VA Medical Center is recruiting for a Training Specialist . The Training Specialist will function under the Environmental Management Service.

Duties

The duties of the position may include but are not limited to: Orientation of all newly hired EMS employees insuring a comprehensive understanding of the Environmental Management mission, vision, and established performance measures. Ensures that all newly hired staff and existing staff understands all established Environmental Management rules, regulations, and procedures regarding position expectations. Serves as the primary educator for the entire service. The incumbent will identify training needs and develop training programs for all staff. The incumbent will make recommendations and collaborate with the section supervisor (to which the employee is assigned) to ensure that an established training program is completed. Develops test criteria for newly hired staff and existing staff in order to validate the adequacy of training, and ensure training is being completed within established timeframes. Identifies any and all new program and application enhancements within the EMS program, determining the impacts of changes and identifying all training requirements necessary for staff to ensure proper implementation with limited problems. Holds primary training responsibility for EMS regarding identification, development, and implementation of any and all training to be offered by the Battle Creek VA Medical Center. Works with program managers and supervisors as well as the Chief, Environmental Management Service in the identification, development, and implementation of any potential training necessities required for each program, including on-going, training requirements to ensure program efficiencies are maintained. Evaluates training and education outcomes to determine if necessary, proficiencies have been achieved. Conduct Quality Assurance Checks throughout the facility. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/30/2023. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement.
