You will serve as a RIGGER in the PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG COMMAND HAWAII.

Duties

You may work aboard ships, floating crafts, hangers or pier side. You will provide guidance and training to other employees. You will use equipment such as chain falls, gin poles, tackle blocks, gallows frames, or combinations of these to rig and move objects through confined areas. You will maintain awareness of work operations for possible safety hazards and take steps to eliminate or control hazards. You will use complex multipoint suspension techniques to permit maneuvering over, under, and around obstacles by tilting, dipping, and turning the suspended load. You will direct operators of cranes and other weight handling equipment by standard signals. You will make difficult load routing judgments by considering such factors as size, shape, and location of the object. • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
• You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
