The primary purpose of this position is to provide quality supervision and leadership for the T-38 periodic inspection, (P.E.), teams and the T-38 aircraft engine support shop.

Duties

- Plans for the efficient use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities, materials, tools and other resources in order to best provide a timely periodic inspection Dow and mission capable jet engines. - Provides work directions to subordinates. - Through subordinate supervisors and work leaders, directs a workforce of approximately 30 personnel ranging from WG-02 to an assistant supervisor on the swing shift, WS-09 - Ensures that work assignments and maintenance accomplished are correctly documented through the use of AFTO 781 series and Core Automated Maintenance Systems (CAMS) computer terminals and any other applicable methods.

  • IAW DoDI 3020-42 this position has been locally or command designated as Mission Essential (ME); needed to ensure the continued operation of mission essential functions of the activity.
  • Mission Essential personnel may be required to report for duty at normal times when the base is closed or delayed reporting, and remain on duty during phased or early release.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-8600, Engine Overhaul Group. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is the ability to supervise. JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of equipment assembly, installation, repair ofT-38, T-37, T-1 aircraft, or other comparable small body aircraft. 2. Knowledge of various phases of aircraft maintenance such as periodic inspections, engines, corrosion control, structural repair, electrical systems, pneudraulics, etc., in order to perform inspections and evaluate suggestions and technical order changes. Also, requires a basic knowledge in the various trades and craft specialties to evaluate/inspect workmanship. 3. Knowledge of safety requirements as outlined in applicable safety standards, regulation and technical orders. 4. Knowledge of tool, equipment and materials accounting and security. 5. Ability to read and interpret instructions, specifications, blueprints, and technical orders. Ability to document work assignments through the use of AFTO 781 series and automated maintenance management systems. 6. Ability to detect and isolate malfunctions and to determine when new assemblies, components and parts of aircraft should be installed, reworked, repaired or adjusted. Ability to plan and schedule work to achieve maximum utilization of personnel, facilities and equipment. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
