This position is a Physician Assistant located at the White Earth Health Center (WEHC) with duty station located at the Naytahwaush Health Center, Naytahwaush, Minnesota. This position reports to the Clinical Director or Designee. This is an Open Continuous Announcement and applications will be referred when vacancies occur.

Duties

Provides diagnostic, therapeutic and preventive health services to patients, including provision of emergency medicine & inpatient medical services. Takes a complete health and developmental history from the patient and/or family member. Performs a physical examination of the patient. Orders and/or performs screening and diagnostic tests and procedures. Makes diagnosis and decisions concerning medical and nursing care needs of patients. Serves as consultant and provides technical assistance to other health care providers and staff.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): All applicants must meet the following basic requirements for all grade levels: Graduation from a physician assistant educational program, accredited by the Accreditation Review Committee on Education for the Physician Assistant(external link) (ARC-PA) or its predecessors, at a college, university, or educational institution that is accredited by an accrediting body or organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education(external link) at the time the degree was obtained. Successful completion of the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants(external link) (NCCPA) examination; must maintain status as a certified physician assistant, including completion of all requirements for Continuing Medical Education(external link) (CME) and re-certification. Licensure For all grade levels and positions, applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician Assistant from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. GS-12: A minimum of 1 full year of work experience as a certified physician assistant equivalent to at least the GS-11 Grade Level AND completion of an accredited physician assistant educational program is required. GS-13: A minimum of 1 full year of work experience as a certified physician assistant equivalent to at least the GS-12 Grade Level AND completion of an accredited physician assistant educational program is required. Work Experience Defined: GS-12: Provide a variety of professional direct health care clinical duties within the field of chronic and acute care, emergency and urgent care medicine; provide a wide range of activities including assessing, planning, evaluating and modifying the plan of acute and chronically ill patients; assess, evaluate, diagnose and initially treat adult and pediatric patients who present with symptoms, illness, injury or conditions and provide services to ameliorate minor illnesses to secure illnesses, injuries and emergency cases; stabilize and transfer patients with severe major illnesses or injuries; provide a range of duties associated with providing emergency care for patients seen in the Emergency Department. GS-13: Make diagnosis and decisions concerning medical needs to patients. Formulates and implements plan of care which may involve various treatment modalities, prescribing medications, and consultation with other health care providers. Consults with other professionals regarding health care issues and complex medical problems. Provide a variety of professional direct health care clinical duties within the field of chronic and acute care, emergency and urgent care medicine; stabilize and transfer patients with severe major illnesses or injuries; assess, evaluate, diagnose and treat adult and pediatric patients. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).

Education
