This position is located at the Albuquerque Service Center - Human Resources Management for the Internal Operations area. This position serves as a Mail Clerk that independently performs a variety of duties involving control, processing, and delivery of incoming and outgoing mail. Duties

Handles and controls all accountable mail - Receives, sorts, and routes incoming mail to distribution points by organizational designation, name, subject, etc. Properly reads, classifies, and marks material for indexing and cross-indexing. Accurately screens for and separates material related to special projects and programs. Periodically reviews filed material in the light of ongoing programs or special projects. Maintains office supply room for the organization.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service or exempt.
  • Subject to satisfactory adjudication of background investigation and/or fingerprint check.
  • Successful completion of one-year probationary period, unless previously served.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the eligibility and qualifications requirements as defined below by the closing date of the announcement. Your application and resume must clearly show that you possess the experience requirements. Transcripts must be provided for qualifications based on education. Provide course descriptions as necessary. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is defined as one or more of the following: Processing and sorting incoming and outgoing mail; and/or Providing basic clerical office and administration duties; and/or Serving as a liaison with the postal and UPS/FedEx organizations; and/or Maintaining and ensuring that file plans are in accordance with agency regulations and policies. OR A bachelor's degree or 4 years of successfully completed education above high school. OR A combination of successfully completed post-high school education (in excess of the first 60 semester hours) and specialized experience. The education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
