Salary: $94 199 - 122 459 per year

This position is located in the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Asst Secretary for Housing-Federal Housing Commissioner. Duties

As a Special Assistant, you will: Determine and formulate priorities within guidelines set up by the Deputy Assistant Secretary and/or Associate Deputy Assistant Secretary. Analyzes information collected from a wide variety of sources to determine the nature and scope of the problem, interprets the material, and develops policy options. Synthesizes and simplifies complicated information; defines, describes, and compares policy alternatives; assesses political and institutional constraints; summarizes study results; and presents finding to the Deputy Assistant Secretary and/or Associate Deputy Assistant Secretary to aid him her in examining complex policy and risk management considerations. Performs research and detailed analysis on topics directed or as needed to keep the Deputy Assistant Secretary and/or Associate Deputy Assistant Secretary informed of key issues or trends affecting Housing's role in the Agency.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. Specialized Experience: For the GS-12 grade level, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes: Assisting in the oversight of a program's administrative management (formulating priorities, interpreting material, and policy compliance); OR Analyzing data (developing technical reports, formulating recommendations, and presentations to senior management). AND Working closely with management in coordinating projects, solving problems, and implementing program improvement initiatives. Experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your resume. Time-in-Grade: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-12 you must have been at the GS-11 level for 52 weeks. Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
