The Budget Technician {OA). GS-0561-6 (Target 7) In the Medical Service provides assistance to the Chief and Administrative Officer of the Medical Service who direct the largest Service in the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital. The Medical Service maintains three Fund Control Points to purchase medical and miscellaneous supplies for the Service and approved service contracts.
Duties
Primary Duties include but are not limited to:
Acts as the Service Fund Control Clerk (FCP).
Examines, verifies, and maintain financial accounts and accounting data.
Maintains general ledger accounts, journals and subsidiary accounts.
Responsible for the maintenance, auditing and reconciliation of the general and subsidiary ledger accounts.
Updates and maintains the Equipment Inventory List (EIL).
Enters electronic work orders.
Assist in tracking of credentialing requirements for medical licensing.
Attends meetings, generates and distributes minutes.
Serves as lead timekeeper for 16 T&Ls within the Medical Service.
Initiates performance appraisals and proficiency reports ensuring mid-year and annual reporting for over 200 personnel in the Medical Service in accordance with VA regulations.
Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30am to 4:00pm

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/25/2023.
GS-06 Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.

You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
GS-06 Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Under direct supervision using established instructions, practices, or precedents for processing accounting or budget documents.
Performing office support functions such as procurement of administrative supplies and equipment, records management, planning meetings, and timekeeping.
Monitors project funds and resolves projected shortfalls.
GS-07 Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
Using established instructions, practices, or precedents for processing accounting or budget documents; monitors project funds and resolves projected shortfalls.
Preparing budget forecasts and reports on budget execution.
Collecting, compiling, and tracking data and statistical information in support of an organization's program operation.
Performing office support functions such as procurement of administrative supplies and equipment, records management, planning meetings, and timekeeping.
Knowledge of word processing systems to write memos, build spreadsheets, type policies and procedures.

Physical Requirements: ·The work( requires sedentary, walking, standing, bending, sitting, lifting and carrying of light items not to exceed 5 lbs. Consistent use of the telephone.
