THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a TITLE 5 ENGINEERING EQUIPMENT OPERATOR (MI 127WG), Position Description Number 9W176 and is part of the MI 127 Wing, National Guard.
Duties
To operate engineering and construction equipment and perform functions as cutting, moving, digging, grading, and rolling earth, sand, stone, and other materials and to operate airfield clearing equipment and auxiliary equipment.
1. Operates one or more types of heavy equipment to push, pull, pile, or load materials, such as sand, gravel, earth, coal, moving and covering refuse, and clearing brush, rocks, tree stumps, and other material.
2. Operates one or more types of gasoline or diesel powered special purpose airfield clearing equipment, including snow removal equipment and vacuum type sweepers to clear runways, taxiways, ramps, and aprons of snow, ice, or foreign objects.
3. Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a
safe and clean work environment.
4. Uses and maintains tools and equipment.
5. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

- Irregular and overtime hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies.
- The employee may be required to travel in military and/or commercial aircraft/vehicle to perform temporary duty assignments.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Minimum time required: 12 Months
Experience or training operating heavy engineer equipment and performing operator maintenance on equipment such as bulldozers, angle dozers, front-end loaders, and other similar type equipment. Experience or training in operating one or more types of heavy engineer equipment in close proximities and on various types of terrain. Experience assisting lower graded operators in complex operation or maintenance of equipment.
