Duties
Generate creditable, professional quality museum exhibit proposals.
Solicit internal and external museum exhibit proposals for permanent and temporary exhibit installations.
Plan detailed museum exhibits of original designs and concepts where the general format and specific themes to be illustrated are predetermined.
Work with technical independence in the production of museum displays and exhibits, performing complex, varied and highly skilled crafts.
Construct portions of structural museum exhibits from approved plans.
Oversee and participate in the exhibit process from planning, design, fabrication, and installation. Duties may include but are not limited to, design and build cases, mounts wall panels and boxes, wires and installs special exhibit lighting.
Assemble and complete museum project files by maintaining clear and concise written and graphic records of work accomplished, hours and materials expended to design, produce, install and uninstall an exhibit.

Basic Requirements for Exhibits Specialist GS-1010-12:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: planning and constructing museum displays and exhibits; monitoring funding requests; and utilizing computer software systems for exhibit design (Examples include: Vectorworks, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, or ONYX PosterShop). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
