About the Position: The Anniston Army Depot is located in Anniston, Alabama in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountain chain halfway between Atlanta, GA and Birmingham, AL just off Interstate 20.
This position will be filled on a permanent basis.
Duties
Perform installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, testing and repair of electrical lighting, power and control circuits, systems, fixtures, and equipment.
Thread, bend and install conduit, wire, transformers, switches, distribution panels, outlet boxes, fittings, receptacles and light fixtures.
Test circuits and systems for proper voltage, amperage, continuity and capacity.
Troubleshoot and repair minor electrical/electronic equipment such as welders, jib booms, cranes, vats, boring mills, grinders and blast booths alone or with higher grade technicians.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must satisfactorily complete the appropriate annual Depot Medical Examination.
- Must Obtain and Maintain a valid Government Operator's License.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's License.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Electrician~ without more than normal supervision. Applicants must meet the screen out element to be considered further. The work of the position normally includes the Overhauling, rebuilding, repairing, modification and testing of electrical systems, and related mechanical components, reconnecting wiring after assemblies have been reinstalled in the equipment and providing technical troubleshooting and diagnoses of malfunctions involving electrical systems during all phases of testing.

Physical Effort: Work requires incumbent to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb and work in tiring positions on ladders, scaffolds and overhead cranes. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 20 pounds and occasionally lifts weights up to 60 pounds.
Working Conditions: Work is performed inside buildings for most of time. Incumbent works outside occasionally and is exposed to the weather elements. The work is dirty, dusty and greasy. He is exposed to shop noise and there is possibility of broken bones, electrical shock, burns, cuts and bruises. Is required to wear hard hat, safety shoes and glasses.
