This National Guard position is for a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC SUPERVISOR, Position Description Number D1290000 and is part of the PA Field Maintenance Shop 17, National Guard. 1 or more Position(s) may be hired against this Announcement. Duties

As a Surface Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor, WS-5801-10, you will plan use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities, and materials on a week-to-week or month-to-month basis. Establish deadlines, priorities, and work sequences, and plans work assignments based on general work schedules, methods, and policies set by the supervisor. Assign tasks to be performed based on readiness and explains work requirements, methods, and procedures. Investigate work related problems such as excessive costs or low productivity and determines causes. Plan and establish overall leave schedules. Determine training needs of subordinates and arranges for accomplishment. Perform non-supervisory work, such as, transporting equipment, performing maintenance tasks, etc. Develop, publish, and ensure employee compliance with standing operating procedures for the activity supervised. Implement and comply with agency, state, and federal regulatory Occupational Safety and Health, and environmental requirements. Prepare for and participate in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises. Perform other duties as assigned.

• This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.

• Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

Qualifications

APPOINTMENT STATUS: EXCEPTED This is a Dual Status Excepted Service Technician position in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard. AREA OF CONSIDERATION: Non-bargaining Position AOC 1: NG Employees working at the location specified AOC 2: NG Employees of the Pennsylvania National Guard AOC 3: All Service Members of the Pennsylvania National Guard (to include Temporary Technicians) AOC 4: Service Members currently serving in another branch and are willing to become members of the Pennsylvania National Guard TEMPORARY PROMOTION/REASSIGNMENT: Currently employed permanent technician selected will occupy this position as a Promotion not to exceed or Reassignment as appropriate in their present status. INDEFINITE: Indefinite employment status pertains to applicant nominated, who are not a currently employed permanent technician. Indefinite appointments may acquire permanent status depending upon future force structure requirements; indefinite appointments do not serve a trial period. Indefinite appointments may be separated when their services are no longer needed or when funding is no longer available via a 30-day termination notice. Military Grades: Officer: O1-O4 Warrant Officer: WO1-CW5 Enlisted: E7-E9 Supervisor for this position is MAJ Baney GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates that the candidate has the ability to organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific jobs; able to explain manuals and work procedures; and to prepare production records, work records and reports. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicant must have 36 months of experience at the journeyman level knowledge, experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Experience that provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations. QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE: Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed. The applicant's record of experience, training, and education must show possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position to be filled.
