Duties
Serves as the principal office assistant, performing various administrative and clerical duties in support of the work of a very large, complex organization.
Performs office automation support using multiple automated programs and software, such as databases, spreadsheets, and graphics, in support of the administrative and clerical work.
Prepares and/or monitors a wide variety of recurring and nonrecurring correspondence, reports, and other documents from information obtained from the staff, files, and other sources.
Screens incoming mail to identify what needs to be brought to the attention of the supervisor, referred to appropriate staff, rerouted to other organizations/offices, or handled personally.
Receives telephone calls, greets visitors, and ascertains the nature of the calls or visits.
Serves as the Government Purchase Card (GPC) holder for the directorate.
Serves as the directorate’s representative on various organizational teams (e.g., safety, EEO, Combined Federal Campaign) and collaborates efficiently with team members in the execution of duties associated with the teams.
Processes various directorate documentation (e.g., move sheets, work orders, awards)
Managing multiple projects and determining project urgency, as well as effectively communicating orally and in writing.

Qualifications
To qualify for a Secretary (OA), your resume and supporting documentation must support:
A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-07 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:
Performing administrative procedures by utilizing various types of computer software.
Coordinating and monitoring suspense dates and calendars.
Preparing documents and correspondence for review.
Participating on various teams Utilizing written and oral communication skills to effectively exchange information
B. Typing Proficiency Requirement: Must be able to type at least 40 words per minute.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
