This position is located in the Behavioral Health Integration/Day Treatment Programs, Mental Health Department of the Northern Navajo Medical Center, Shiprock, NM. This position serves as the Supervisor of the Behavioral Health Integration (BHI) and Day Treatment Programs (DTP) performing duties of planning, developing, implementing, evaluating, and coordinating behavior management and case management services.
Duties
Provides direct clinical social work and brief psychotherapy services to a wide array of patients with a particular emphasis on needs of patients receiving medical care. Works with all age groups.
Provides services include but are not limited to: screening and assessment, diagnostic evaluation, crisis intervention, discharge planning, disposition consultation, cross-cultural interpretation/negotiation, suspected abuse and neglect coordination, referral and intervention services, brief psychotherapy (individual, family, and group) as related to facilitating appropriate medical care, end-of-life support, family support and interventions, consultation/liaison/referral activities with other related service providers both within and outside assigned unit.
Completes documentation in timely manner and provides clinical case reviews.
Provides support and evaluation of tribal, Indian Health Service, and Department of Behavioral Health Services programs consistent with Joint Commission Standards, Indian Health Service manual, and Navajo Nation.
Maintains positive relationships with community resources, Navajo Area Indian Health Service, Indian Health Service Headquarters, and other state and tribal programs keeping abreast of information pertinent to the organization.
Supervises the following employees: (2) Social Worker GS-0185-11, (1) Mental Health Specialist GS-0101-11, (3) Mental Health Technicians GS-102-07, (4) Health Technicians GS-0640-07.
Administer and oversee Behavioral Health Integration (BHI)/Day Treatment Program (DTP) to ensure quality patient care.
Participate in the coordination of interdepartmental and hospital program planning effort.
Coordinate the selection, promotion, orientation, and performance appraisals of staff and ensure that all related actions are managed equitably and in accordance with established hospital and department policies.
Direct team participation in educational programs via consultations, in-services, presentation, new employee orientation and/or patient rounds for staff, hospital staff, and administrative staff to enhance understanding of the behavior management aspect of patient care and professional development.
Performs others duties as assigned.

Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Individual Occupational Requirements
Degree: Social work. Must fulfill all of the requirements for the master's degree in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Experience with providing integrated behavioral health services in a primary care setting, including knowledge of and skills in applying brief functional assessments, brief therapies and a range of primary care based behavioral health interventions and consultation; experience with principles and practices of social work in the performance of providing direct clinical services and case management; perform a broad repertoire of psychotherapeutic skills from a variety of theoretical perspectives; develop treatment plans; plan, develop and facilitate trainings for program staff; and document work.
Supervisory or Managerial Abilities: Candidates must have demonstrated in their work experience or training that may possess, or have the potential to develop, the qualities of successful supervision, as listed under the appropriate category below.
Ability to motivate, train and works effectively with subordinates who have a variety of background and training
Ability to accomplish the quality and quantity of work expected within set limits of cost and time
Ability to plan own work and carry out assignments effectively
Ability to communicate with others effectively, both orally and in writing, in working out solutions to problems or questions related to work

Ability to develop improvements in or design new work methods and procedures.
SELECTIVE FACTOR: Must possess a current, unrestricted U.S. State license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or a Licensed Medical Social Worker (LMSW). (Provide copy of license with application. License will be verified before referral.)
