The Recent Graduates program provides an entry-level developmental experience to those who have obtained, or will obtain within 9 months, a qualifying associates, bachelor's, master's, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution within the last 2 years. Veterans whose military service obligations have prevented them from applying within this period have up to 6 years after degree or certificate completion to apply.

Duties

As a participant in the Recent Graduates Program, you will receive both formal and on-the-job training to develop the required knowledge and skill to successfully perform the duties of the position.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
  • Current Federal Career/Career-Conditional employee, will be placed on an Excepted appointment.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below. Basic Requirement: This position has a positive education requirement. Applicants must meet the basic educations requirements in order to be found minimally qualified for the position. Attention to Detail -experience reviewing my own information technology-related work or data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards. My work or the data that I produce is typically reviewed by my supervisor or another colleague Customer Service - experience having brief contact with customers to provide information about available information technology products and services and providing customers with standard products or routine services to address information technology needs Oral Communication - experience informing my supervisor and other IT staff of the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the communication of basic technical information to a non-technical audience Problem Solving - identifying or selecting from a number of alternatives to address routine information technology-related issues by gathering and applying information from standard sources that provide a limited number of solutions Qualifying Experience: For the GS-07, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service. Qualifying experience is defined as: Experience in computer networking concepts and protocols, and network security methodologies; risk management processes (e.g., methods for assessing and mitigating risk) Candidates must describe how they meet the qualifying experience and/or selective placement factor(s) within the body of their resume. All qualifications must be met within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.

Education

You MUST provide transcripts or other documentation to support your educational claims. Official or unofficial transcripts are acceptable. Unofficial transcripts must have applicant name, and name of the college/university attending. All materials must be submitted by the closing date of the announcement. PASS/FAIL COURSES: If more than 10 percent of your undergraduate course work (credit hours) were taken on a pass/fail basis, your claim of superior academic achievement must be based upon class standing or membership in an honor society.



SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE AT THE GG-07 LEVEL: Bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement or 1 academic year of graduate education (or law school, as specified in qualification standards or individual occupational requirements). Superior Academic Achievement: S.A.A. is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average, or (3) honor society membership.

Foreign Education: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show that the education credentials have been evaluated by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services at the time of application. Additional Information:

This is an Excepted Service appointment. Program participants MAY be converted, without a break in service, to a permanent appointment upon completion of program requirements. To be eligible for conversion, Recent Graduates must:
  • Complete one continuous year of work experience acquired through a Recent Graduate Program.
  • Complete 40 hours of formal interactive training.
  • Meet the qualification standards for the position to which the Recent Graduate will be converted.
  • Meet any agency-specific requirements specified in the Participant's Agreement.
  • Demonstrate successful job performance that results in a rating of record of at least Fully Successful and a recommendation for conversion by the first level supervisor.
