Duties
The selectee will serve as Emergency Services Specialist in the Office of Training, James J. Rowley Training Center in Laurel MD. Typical work assignments include:

Qualifications
Basic education Requirements
Degree: Bachelor’s or graduate/higher level degree: major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education(external link) at the time the degree was obtained.
You qualify for the GS-13 level (starting salary $112,015) if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level performing duties such as:
Researching emergency services related issues and makes timely recommendations on strategies
Designing new and customizing existing training aids and equipment
Developing course curriculum video presentations and instructing training courses
Providing emergency services, advance plans and protocols
Five (5) year work experience as a paramedic
Three (3) years’ experience as a Hazardous Materials Responder at the Operations level
Selective Placement Factor: In addition to the minimum qualifications described above, you must meet the following requirement(s) to be considered qualified for the position:
Must possess and valid and current driver’s license.
A current valid National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) Paramedic certification.
Must have five (5) year work experience as a paramedic.
Must have three (3) years’ experience as a Hazardous Materials Responder at the Operations level. When documenting this experience, the applicant must provide at least one (1) of the following:• a Hazardous Materials Operations Certificate• a Hazardous Materials Technician Certificate
Must be certified in ICS/NIMS 100, 200, 700 and 800. Training must have been completed within the past 5 years.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
