Duties
Serve as a representative manager and staff specialist on Operating Equipment Programs.
Develop and formulate equipment specifications based on working height, lifting capacity and other operational requirements and safety factors.
Review equipment utilization, maintenance and operational policies and procedures for equipment programs.
Perform onsite inventory review, database identification and assessment of overall operating equipment conditions.
Provide reports, training, technical advice, assistance, and specialized equipment knowledge necessary
(Cont.) to support assigned categories of equipment from the time of introduction into the logistical system until it is retired through sale, scrap or donation.
Develop System Change Requests (SCR’s), submits and coordinates them for improved functionality and operation of MHE and equipment program.
Advise the operations directorate and command on findings and recommend improvements to be implemented throughout the agency.

Qualifications
To qualify for an Equipment Specialist, your resume and supporting documentation must support:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:
Analyzing economic data on equipment projects including, anticipated economic life, alternative planning concepts, costs, economic analysis (EA), comparisons of alternatives and timelines.
Developing and adapting new methods and procedures to minimize material costs and solve a variety of systematic problems.
Analyzing reports to determine status of the fleet, or appropriate modifications and develops supporting cost/benefit data.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Work Environment
The work involves everyday risks and discomforts typically associated with office and similar settings. Work areas are adequately heated, lighted, and ventilated. Visits to production areas are infrequent and relatively free of hazards to the employee.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
