This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, Surface Forces Logistics Center, Engineering Services Division, Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering Branch, In-Service Vessel Sustainment Section (ISVS), Baltimore, MD.

Duties

The incumbent assists in the management of several diverse types of functions that support the financial section of the Engineering Services Division (ESD) including certifications, expenditures, internal auditing, monitoring, reconciliation, reporting, travel, validation, and the management analysis and interpretation of ESD financial interrelating accounts.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service.  Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include: formulating/justifying/monitoring the execution of a financial reporting program; recognizing developing changes & advising on alternatives affecting administration of the financial reporting program. collecting/compiling/distributing periodic financial report data of all organizational activities; conducting complex/detailed analyses on organization's financial performance incl profitability, key financial ratios, cash flow, etc.; solving a variety of accounting problems/issues arising from a single integrated accounting system; assuring accounting subsystems are fully integrated into a cohesive financial management program; ensuring that accounting data & reconciliations are correct & ensuring the timely preparation of accounting ledgers/reports/reconciliations/analyses; determining the feasibility of accounting systems design & procedures. OR Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.M., if related OR A combination of successfully completed post-Master education and experience.
