About the Position: Serves as a Lead Safety and Occupational Health Specialist for Task Force Virgin Islands / Puerto Rico (TF VIPR). Leads a team of Safety and Occupational Health Professionals and performs technical work in the management of safety programs by controlling physical conditions and operating practices to eliminate factors that are known or predicted to result in injury to persons or damage to property.
Duties
As the senior SOH professional effectively communicate the organization’s strategic plan, mission, vision and values to the Safety team ensuring integration into the team’s strategies, goals, objectives, work plans and work products and services.
Monitor Safety Staff training needs in accordance with applicable standards for successful accomplishment of assigned Safety Program elements.
The incumbent considers and evaluates serious safety hazards related to construction and operational requirements and the application of safety standards that affect completing the work on schedule.
Attends pre-construction conferences to ensure safety and health provisions have been included in the contract for the required safety issues pertaining to the specific activities involved under the contract.

- This position requires TDY up to 30% of the time.
- This position requires the wearing of protective equipment and clothing as required.
- Career Program 12 Level 1 Certification required.
- This position requires a valid, State-issued motor vehicles driver's license.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing technical work in the management of safety programs by controlling physical conditions and operating practices to eliminate factors that are known or predicted to result in injury to persons or damage to property. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
