As a Program Support Assistant in the Nursing Recruitment Office, Nursing Service of the Bruce W. Carter VA Medical Center, Miami, Florida. You are responsible for the entire process from initial receipt of applications to the applicant's entrance on duty to position management with primary responsibility for staffing of nursing personnel and defers final approval of pay setting and unusual problems to the Nurse Recruiter and/or hiring official for resolution/final determination or approval.
Duties
Major duties include, but are not limited to:
Performs work in support of a placement and recruitment function.
Performs limited technical projects such as minimum qualification determinations, data entry and retrieval and the preparation of recurring and new vacancy announcements.
Performs administrative tasks in support of Recruitment, Retention and Recognition programs.
Tracks data and recruitment information in support of recruitment operations
Recommends changes in administrative practices and services as the source of information on administrative procedures.
Provides the manager or supervisor with information needed to make decisions on the administrative aspects of the organization operations and management.
Receives applications and maintains an automated data based to monitor status of applicants, verify licenses.
Provides clerical support to the National Professional Standard Board and tracks all aspects of board actions timely.
Types Board Actions, congratulatory letters, and notifies supervisory and Human Resources related to changes in grade, title, pay or duty status in a timely manner.
Tracks board actions and proficiencies monthly using a database. Updates VISTA Nursing Package data and maintains follow-up file of licenses, PIV sponsor.
Establishes pre-salary and collaborate with service Managers Human Resource and Chief Nurses to assist with pre-employment processing.
Provides assistance to the NNEI program, processing financial transactions, tracking invoices with accuracy.
Performs work related to the practical and technical aspects of office administration including issues related to, budgeting, supply management and purchasing, personnel administration, time keeping, and award tracking.
Other duties, as assigned.
Preferred Experience:
Clerical and administrative (Develop spreadsheets, maintain database with accuracy, transcribe minutes, process financial transactions, tracking invoices with accuracy in multiple fund control point.
Computer Skills (must be proficient in excel and Power Point)

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/24/2023.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06.
The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.
Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: performs work in support of a placement and recruitment functions, limited technical projects, data entry and retrieval and preparation of recurring and new vacancy announcements, plans and establishes office control systems and recommends changes in administrative practices and services.

Physical Requirements: No special physical demands are required. The work is primarily performed while sitting. The work environment includes everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of offices and meeting and training rooms.
