VOTED 2022 BEST PLACE FOR WORKING PARENTS About the Position: This position is located at McNary Project, operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers and situated on the Columbia River, near the town of Umatilla OR. This Project provides hydroelectric generation, navigation, fish passage and recreation.

Duties

Perform problem investigation on fish passage facilities. Identify presence and sources of fish way contaminants and recommends corrective action. Conduct daily inspection of fish ways to insure proper performance of system. Review fish counts and coordinate corrective action with required organizations Assist in writing reports and letters for the unit.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Pre-employment physical is required.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license.
• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience operating equipment for collecting and handling fish according to standard procedures and experience collecting and maintaining data in association with a fish program. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as biology, chemistry, statistics, entomology, animal husbandry, botany, physics, agriculture, or mathematics. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Fishery BiologyProject ManagementTechnical CompetenceTechnology Application Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-6).
