This position is located at US Mint,Philadelphia Mint-MANUF DEPT/Plant Mgr PA/OFFICE OF ADMIN/SAFETY AND HEALTH DIVISION PA. As a Occupational Health Nurse, you will perform a full range of occupational health nurse duties, including emergency treatment of minor injuries, routine screenings for hearing and vision, managing work-related injury claims and associated recordkeeping, and administering annual influenza immunizations
Duties
As a Occupational Health Nurse, you will:
Manage medical surveillance programs. These programs may include annual surveillance for exposure to metal working fluids, hexavalent chromium, noise and other potential chemical, biological, radiological, or physical hazards encountered in the workplace.
Provide nursing services in an industrial clinic environment and manages the confidential medical records and other documentation associated with these duties.
Conduct pre-employment and periodic medical screening tests such as hearing and vision tests. Initiate medical history questionnaires and required medical forms for pre-placement, periodic exams, fitness for duty, and exit and return to work exams. Track work-related injuries, lost work days, and restricted work days in order to maintain an accurate Log of Work-Related Injuries and Illnesses (OSHA Form 300). Participate in Worker's Compensation claim management by attending monthly teleconferences with claims representatives and Mint management.
Monitor and follow up on chronic, serious or acute conditions to include maintaining an awareness of duty status of injured/ill employees on all shifts. Offer advice for procedures/protocols to ensure sound case management practices for work-related injuries and illnesses. Work closely with supervisors of employees who return to work following work-related or non-work-related injuries or illnesses with medical restrictions that allow them to participate in the Light/Limited Duty Program. Track employee medical progress until returned to work at full duty or with approved accommodation.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
LICENSURE: Applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination. In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
For the GS-11, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
Overseeing physician/nursing care plans; AND
Reviewing and making recommendations for improvement to quality of overall nursing care, AND
Possession of a diploma, associates degree, bachelors degree, or masters degree from a professional nursing educational program.
OR
Successful completion of a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field.
Education
Education Requirements: The education generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
