You will serve as a OPERATIONS RESEARCH ANALYST in the EXTERNAL ANALYSIS DIVISION of MARINE CORPS COMBAT DEVELOPMENT CMD.

Duties

You will be a key member and often the leader of analytical teams structure to perform military operations research analysis in support of the Marien Corps Studies program. You will work with military customers of these studies to help translate their questions and problems into analytically tractable study issues. You will work on a variety of analysis areas, to include data analysis, optimization and modeling and simulation. You will use a broad range of mathematical, statistical or scientific programs; and/or developing, testing and advising on theoretical concepts and new or improved technologies and methods. You will participate with decision-makers in setting goals and defining the conditions for a project.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Top Secret/SCI security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

Qualifications

GS-14 In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: working as a professional Operational Research Analyst leading analytical teams structured to perform operations research analysis on simulation related activities to include developing and implementing technical standards policy and best practices; analyzing potential impacts on simulation system technical architectures and system designs; AND conducting technical reviews of proposed research. GS-13 In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: working as a professional Operations Research Analyst performing operations research analysis to simulation related activities to include analyzing interoperability standards; analyzing potential impacts on simulation system technical architectures and system designs; AND conducting technical reviews of proposed research. Applicants must possess:

A bachelor's or higher degree in operations research.

-OR-

Successfully completed a bachelor's or higher degree with at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics and at least 3 of the 24 semester hours are in calculus.
