You will serve as a DATA SCIENTIST within NAVY SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT ACTIVITY.
Duties
You will participate in planning, designing, developing, implementing state-of-the-art or current technology, data science applications, models, technologies, and guiding principles for data use and analysis.
You will write and execute program code to perform data processes that is clear and efficient, interpret and analyze results, and use data visualization to communicate insights and outcomes to stakeholders.
You will conduct research and statistical analysis on available data, as directed, and presents findings in suitable formats.
You will develop, update, and maintain instructions, methodologies, and/or guidelines, as directed.
You will collaborate with other team members to support the aggregation of software technologies required to integrate resources and provide a useful, usable, and enabling framework for data use.
You will participate in the development of new user interfaces and support adapting tools for displaying cost and schedule related information.
You will implement common data standards and metadata schema for discoverability and interoperability of data.
Requirements

- Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following duties:

Education
Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess:
- Bachelor's degree in archival science or bachelor's degree with a major that includes 18 semester hours in archival science, history and/or in political science or government, and 12 semester hours in one or any combination of the following: archival science, history, American civilization, economics, political science, public administration, or government. or
- Combination of education and experience - at least 30 semester hours that included courses as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
Education substitution for the GS-11 level: In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
OR
Successful completion of three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree
