You will serve as a PHYSICIST in the Radiation Sciences Department of UNIF SRVS UNI OF THE HLTH SCI.

Duties

You will support researchers in their use of x-ray producing machines to study the adverse effects of ionizing radiation using various animal models. You will demonstrate proficiency in operating radiation producing machines and performing dosimetry measurements. You will serve as a subject matter expert in radiation physics, dosimetry and measurements, and collaborate in the identification of new military research initiatives. You will collaborate with internal and external Federal, academic, and private industry scientists to conduct radiation-related research and provide major input for experimental designs. You will participate in interpretation of and publication of experimental results and advise on the use of x-ray producing machines.

• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional physicist planning and executing experiments or studies using different radiation generating machines. Degree: physics; or related degree that included at least 24 semester hours in physics.
or
Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in physics totaling at least 24 semester hours, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
