About the Position: Serves as the Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC) Environmental Specialist. Serves as the Command expert on environmental and energy laws, regulations and unique requirements related to management of the Military Ocean Terminals (MOT), and its capital investment strategy including unique mission aspects such as dredging, climate change, and ordinances
Duties
The duties below are reflected at the full performance GS-13 level.
Advise the Command Engineer of all major environmental and energy issues.
Manage Energy Program in coordination with Military Ocean Terminals (MOT) Energy Managers, Technicians, and Headquarters supporting Engineers.
Coordinate on short and long-range plans and develop programmatic strategies in environmental, energy and climate planning.
Consult necessary historical, regulatory, and technical references as needed to evaluate proposed actions.
Advises Department of Public Works (DPW) staff during field visits of potential environmental, energy, and climate related concerns and considerations.
Manage the Environmental Program, to include adherence to NEPA on behalf of SDDC in coordination with the Command Engineer, Army Environmental Command, Regulatory Agencies, and United States Army Corps of Engineers
Requirements

- Position requires incumbent to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance for the duration of employment.
- Position may require incumbent to serve a one-year probationary period.
- Position requires incumbent to perform up to 25% business travel annually.

Specialized Experience for GS-12: One year of specialized experience which includes: Ability to evaluate industrial processes for areas of noncompliance and apply best management techniques to resolve problems; Skill in using data gathering and analysis techniques to collect and review technical information on environmental science. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS11).
Specialized Experience for GS-13: One year of specialized experience which includes: Apply environmental program principles and procedures to one or more environmental program functional areas to solve complex problems; Ability to solve multiple, complex problems/challenges allocated with environmental compliance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
