You will serve as a Rigger in the Production Department of SOUTHEAST REG MAINTENANCE CTR SERMC.

Duties

You will be responsible for coordinating certification and managing shop cranes and weight handling equipment in accordance with NAVFAC P-307. You will be responsible for ensuring that equipment is properly maintained, used properly and safely on piers, ships and in the shops. You will interact daily with other shop coworkers including journeymen and military enlisted workforce.

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.

Qualifications

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to Do the Work of the Position Without More Than Normal Supervision- Moving large, heavy objects in open and confined spaces. Lay-out, assemble, repair and install complex weight handling gear and various standing and running rigging. Moving large heavy objects by attaching lifting devices such as chain falls, tackle blocks, cranes or a combination of the aforementioned. Reading, interpreting and understanding specifications, procedures, diagrams and sketches. Using complex multipoint suspension techniques to permit maneuvering over and around obstacles by tilting, dipping, and turning the suspended load with consideration to safety of personnel and equipment.
