This position is located at Fort Laramie National Historic Site. The incumbent is responsible for the historic structure and ruin restoration/preservation projects and serves as a specialist in the techniques, methods, and materials used for historic structures and ruins as described by the Secretary of Interior Standards. Qualifications

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-10/30/2023-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience. To qualify for the Exhibits Specialist (Historic Preservation) position at the GS-1010-09 grade, you must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement: BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- illustrative design, commercial art, fine arts, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, or other fields related to the position. Advanced training in a vocational school, technical institute, or art institute above the high school level in one of the fields listed above is creditable as general experience on a month-for-month basis. -AND- SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal Service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: Utilizing the knowledge of techniques, methods, and materials used in preservation of historic structures and ruins. Assessing the condition of historic structures and ruins and is responsible for planning, evaluating, initiating, administering, managing, and performing work on historic structure and ruin restoration/preservation projects that are conducted by themselves or undertaken by project crews or contracted work. You must include hours per week worked annotated on your resume. -OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of a master's, or equivalent graduate degree, in historic preservation or a related field, or 2 full years of higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree that must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. You must submit a copy of your college transcripts. -OR- COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Combination of only graduate education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level may be used to qualify applicants for positions at grades GS-9 and may be computed by first determining the applicant's total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining the applicant's education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for that grade level. When crediting education that requires specific course work, prorate the number of hours of related courses required as a proportion of the total education to be used. You must include college transcripts and hours worked per week on your resume. Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.

If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
