You will serve as a SUPERVISORY FIREFIGHTER in the NAVY FIRE AND EMERGENCY SERVICES AT NAVAL AIR FACILITY of OLF SAN NIC. Temporary actions taken under this announcement may be made permanent without further competition.

Duties

You will exercise complete command of all equipment and personnel assigned to the fire crews. You will respond to all crash alarms with crews. You will direct, review, evaluate, and train personnel in regards to fire protection functions. You will prepare and review performance ratings, schedules, and approve leave.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Lead Day to day operations for assigned shift providing guidance on firefighter related procedures; 2) Fight structural and airfield fires using pre-fire planning methods and familiarity of layouts and design; 3) Operate firefighting emergency vehicles and equipment; 4) Provide hazardous material incident response; and 5) Provide basic life support procedures as needed for each emergency call. NOTE: This experience must be supported by your resume. ***This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications for the GS 09: Fire Officer I, Fire Officer II, Fire Instructor I, Fire Inspector I, Fire Fighter II, Airport Firefighter, Apparatus Driver-Operator for Pumper, Airport Rescue Firefighting (ARFF), and Aerial vehicles; Hazmat Incident Commander, HAZMAT Operations Level; State or National Registry Emergency Medical Technician- Basic Life Support (NREMT-B) certification. The fire certifications must have been awarded by the DoD, IFSAC, or ProBoard to meet the requirement.
