This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is located in Fort Jackson South Carolina, the position is with the Army Health Clinic Moncrief under Director of Clinical Support, Dept of Pharmacy. Working Hours are generally Monday through Friday with the potential to work some weekends.

Duties

Identify potential problems and resolves actual drug related problems; monitor patient's drug therapy and adjust medication regimens or doses according to protocol in the inpatient and outpatient settings. Develops regimens for especially difficult or complex cases with the attending physician. Use extensive knowledge of pharmaceuticals, provides authoritative instructions, advice, and assistance to prescribing and dispensing officials. Serves as the expert on pharmaceuticals and pharmacy education and training. Serves as the supervisor to pharmacists performing primarily clinical roles within the pharmacy, exercising the full range of personnel management responsibilities over subordinate positions. Prepares, compounds, and dispenses pharmaceuticals for patients of all ages, conduct education for patients and healthcare professionals, and ensure proper handling and dispensing of drugs. Prescribes medications as authorized per command-approved protocols. Exercises ability to competently manage problems and is subject to institution-wide medical review of practice patterns.

Requirements

  • You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
  • One year trial/probationary period may be required.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A Personnel Security Investigation is required
  • This position is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. Applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to sign a statement consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • All Health Care Providers must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) training and certification that is sponsored or endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • A pre-placement medical examination is required.
  • This position is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
  • Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
  • One year Supervisory probationary period may be required.
  • This position may require occassional work hours on the Weekend.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for Pharmacist: Education: A doctoral degree in Pharmacy that is recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. Exemption: You are exempt from the basic requirement above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0660 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before. Note: You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status. AND Licensure: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State, a territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia. AND Medical Requirement: Must be able to distinguish basic colors. AND Experience: At least one year of professional pharmacy experience in a Medical Facility which includes 1) providing supervision and technical/clinical direction to pharmacists, pharmacy residency trainees, students, and non-pharmacist employees; 2) Develop and implement strategic initiatives and day-to-day operations; 3) dispensing medications and preparing pharmaceuticals in a Medical Facility; 4) preparing pharmaceuticals to patients; 5) providing pharmaceutical education to healthcare professionals.
