The position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration, Inspection Division.
This position primary purpose is to support the variety of security related systems which protect DEA assets, personnel, and facilities against any or all threats. The threats involve a multitude of new considerations and activities based on technological advances in command, control, communication, and intelligence capabilities of the DEA's traditional and nontraditional targets both foreign and domestic.

As a your typical work assignments may include:
Assisting with implementing protective methods and security procedures, applying knowledge of a great variety of state-of-the-art intrusion detection systems and devices, safes, storage containers, locks and locking systems, personnel entry control systems, ballistic protection measures, access control systems and loss prevention.
Developing experience in applying state-of-the-art information security equipment and devices and participates in planning and implementing protective methods and security procedures, such as delegation and exercise of classification and declassification authority, development of classification guides, document marking, safeguarding, personnel access controls, need to know criteria, physical storage and control, and security education.
Participating in the delivery of non-standard security training covering security related systems and the issuance of DEA identification documents and HSPD-12 PIV card implementation across the agency.
Requirements

Qualifications
Applicants must meet the Specialized Experience requirements as noted below. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Qualification claims will be subject to verification.
Applicant must possess one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrate your ability in: 1) Participating in laying out restricted or controlled areas; 2) Issuing agency wide identification documents using a variety of software programs; 3) Assisting with programs access and maintains HSPD-12 PIV cards in systems such as USAccess; and, 4) Responding to inquiries from customers involving security guidelines.
OR
Master's or equivalent graduate degree; 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related.
OR
A combination of education and experiences may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. The grade may have been in any occupation but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.
