This position starts at a salary of $37,696.00 (GS-05, Step 1) to $49,009.00 (GS-05, Step 10) with promotion potential to $107680 (GS-12 Step 10). Experience: You qualify for the GS-05 grade level if you possess 3 years of generalized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Communicating effectively orally and in writing Dealing effectively with others in person-to-person situations Such experience may have been gained in administrative, professional, technical, investigative, or other responsible work and is qualifying if it provides evidence of the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of this position. Experience of a general clerical nature (typing, filing, routine procedural processing, maintaining records, or other non-specialized tasks) is not creditable. Education Substitution: GS-5: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree, in an accredited college or university, may be substituted for experience at the GS-5 grade level. One year of full-time undergraduate study is defined as 30 semester hours or 45-quarter hours. Combining Education and Experience: Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for the grade levels specified in the table, and may be computed by first determining the applicant's total qualifying experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; then determining the applicant's education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; and then adding the two percentages. The total percentages must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for that grade level. Residency: There is a residency requirement for all applicants not currently employed by CBP. Individuals are required to have physically resided in the United States or its protectorates (as declared under international law) for at least three of the last five years.
