About the Position: This position is located in the Directorate of Surgery at Naval Medical Center San Diego, California. A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Advanced leave accrual may be authorized.

Duties

Utilize automated systems in order to input, extract, and maintain supply transactions and records. Conduct research of catalog databases to locate more cost effective, available substitutes, and new products. Examine received items carefully to note overages, shortages, or damage incurred in shipping/handling. Prepare recurring and special reports and compiles statistics from data requiring some reformulation and revised formats. Make purchases of broad range of equipment, commodities and services through a variety of methods.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
  • Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
  • Immunization screening is required. Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
  • A pre-placement medical examination is required.
  • Moderate to heavy lifting up to 50 pounds is required.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes managing medical supply inventory to ensure availability of current or future supply requirements; utilizing automated supply systems to monitor transactions or maintain records; and troubleshooting supply discrepancies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Logistics or Supply Chain Management. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Inventory ManagementSupply PlanningTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
