Serves as Staff Support Specialist (MSS-1) in a Terminal facility. Responsible for tactical, strategic, and administrative support of multiple program areas such as training, quality control, quality assurance, traffic management, airspace and procedures, plans and programs, operational automation, military operations, special and security operations, safety management system, safety reporting and other areas of specialty identified collaboratively at the local level.

Duties

The work requires comprehensive knowledge of the ATC field and familiarization with the many integral components of the industry which comprise the National Airspace System. Specialists must have the ability to apply this knowledge to the analysis, evaluation and development of new methods, studies, approaches, and procedures. The Staff Support Specialist must be knowledgeable of agency wide programs, facility goals and objectives. Must be able to communicate clearly and tailor their message to the target audience. While not required, hardware/software experience is desirable. Some travel will be required.

Requirements

  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must submit an SF50 (See Required Documents)
  • Designated or Random Drug Testing required.
  • Security Requirement: Moderate Risk (5). This position requires completion and favorable adjudication of a background investigation prior to appointment, unless a waiver is obtained. Subject to a 5 year period reinvestigation.

Qualifications

Candidates must show specialized experience. Specialized experience is defined as:1. Must have held an FAA 2152 FV-J/FG-14 or above regional or headquarters position for at least 1 year (52 weeks);OR2. Must have been facility rated or area certified for at least 1 year (52 weeks) at an ATO facility {NOTE: An employee who has been facility rated or area certified for at least 1 year (52 weeks) at an ATO facility who is upgraded is considered to have met the qualification requirements of the higher-level position, since he/she has been performing the higher-graded work};OR3. Must have held a MSS/TMC position for at least 1 year (52 weeks) in an ATO facility {reference NOTE above}.IN ADDITIONto meeting the qualification requirements above, candidates MUST also be eligible to make application. Revision 1, "MSS Qualification Requirements for AT-2152 Terminal and Enroute Positions" may be used to determine your eligibility to apply.For this position, applicants must currently hold or have held the position of CPC/TMC/TMS, MSS-1 or higher (or) FAA 2152 FV-J/FG-14 or higher in a Headquarters or Region (Service Center) position.Evaluation Criteria:Candidates will be rated in accordance with the instructions contained in FAA Form 3330-43-1, (06/00 or 10/11) Rating of Air Traffic Experience for AT Movement.QUALIFICATIONS MUST BE MET BY THE CLOSING DATE OF THIS VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT.
