This position is established as part of the National Labor Relations Board Honors program. The Honors program supports positions working in three different program areas. Program areas covered are: Board, General Counsel- Headquarters, and General Counsel-Field.
This position resides in a Field Office of the National Labor Relations Board. The Field Offices represent the actual operating arm of the Agency, the means through which both the Board and the General Counsel reach the public.
Duties
As a Law Clerk (Trainee), GS-0904-11, typical work assignments in the Regions may include:
Interviewing witnesses of the charging party to ascertain their knowledge of the allegations;
Obtaining statement of persons interviewed in affidavit form;
Assisting experienced field examiners and field attorneys in the preparation of complaints; and
Drafting formal rulings of the Regional Director disposing of all relevant issues and preparing Hearing Officer's reports at the conclusion of the post-election hearing.

- Salary range listed is base. Locality salary to be determined after selection.
- Only one position per Regional Office is authorized with a total of 26 vacancies to be filled. Applicants may select up to five locations. Selections may or may not be made from the locations listed in this vacancy announcement.

IDEAL CANDIDATE STATEMENT
The Ideal Candidate for the GS-0904-11, Law Clerk (Trainee) General Counsel-Field position will have a strong academic law school record. Course study relevant to industrial, labor law and/or labor relations or similar courses in employment are preferred. The candidate should have excellent oral and written communication skills.
BASIC ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT
In order to meet the basic eligibility requirements, applicants must have at least one of the following:
I have a GPA of 3.0 or above or am in the top 25 % of my law school class or my school does not use a numerical GPA/rank.
I have previously interned or worked at the NLRB or another labor agency
I have other specialized labor law or labor relations experience
In addition to the BASIC ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT, applicants must also meet the following:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
To be eligible for the GS-0904-11 Law Clerk (Trainee) position and grade, applicants must meet all of the following qualifications:
Must be pursuing their first professional law degree (JD or LLB) at an American Bar Association-accredited law school with an anticipated graduation date no later than June 2024.
Must not be barred/licensed at the time of application.
These qualifications must be fully supported and articulated in an applicant's resume to receive consideration.
Education
Applicants must successfully complete a full course of study in a school of law accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA) no later than June 2024 and have a 3.0 (out of a 4.0) cumulative law school grade point average (GPA) or be in the top 25% of their law school class, if law school assigns grades or class rank.
Education must be accredited by an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications (particularly positions with a positive education requirement).
