This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, Base Cape Cod, Facilities Engineering Department, Buzzards Bay, MA.
Duties
This role works independently performing journeyman level High Voltage Electrician duties in support of Base Cape Cod.Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.Typical work assignments include:- Troubleshooting, installing, maintaining repairing and preventive maintenance inspection of primary and secondary distribution systems.- Removing transformers, changing tape, rewiring, resetting distribution, checking oil and replacing the repaired transformers.- Operating, repairing and maintaining computerized solid state high voltage control systems in the main sub station and airfield lighting vaults.- Maintaining, repairing and troubleshooting approach lighting, taxi-way lighting and runway lighting systems and fixtures and any other airfield related lights.- Performing maintenance work on underground wiring, making underground connections to pole boxes, splicing cable, assisting in pumping out water and other debris from underground junction boxes.- Installing, modifying, repairing, maintaining, troubleshooting, loading and testing new and installed equipment, including circuits used to supply distribution panels, industrial switchgear, power and control circuits, electrical intrusion alarm and fire alarm equipment, cathodic protection systems , high intensity lighting systems and related equipment.- Performing snow removal operations on airfield taxiways and public roads and parking areas as deemed necessary.* You must be able to obtain and maintain "Basic Tower Climbing Safety and Rescue Certification".
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- The position requires a valid state driver's license.
- Applicant is required to meet the physical requirements of the position.
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Basic Tower Climbing Safety and Rescue Certification is preferred.
