Duties
Performs work that requires full professional knowledge of the practices of librarianship to select, organize, access, manage, and disseminate information associated with public/patron services, technical services, and automation services.
Provides all members of the Military Community with reference/research using text and online searching principles, reader's advisory/selective dissemination of information, programming and library instruction and an up-to-date web presence.
Performs technical services functions including acquisitions, procurement, cataloging/classification, physical processing, and accountability of materials.
Performs automation services including ILS maintenance, network operations, and workstation and Internet issues.
Develops and implements long-range automation plans for the library within the parameters defined by the supervisory librarian.
Assists chief librarian in overall management of the library.
Supervises assigned staff.
Requirements
- Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
- Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
- Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
- A one year probationary period may be required.
- Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
- Completed and signed DA Form 3433 is required prior to entrance on duty.
- Health and immunization screening is required.
- Must be available to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Qualifications
1. A master's degree in library science, information services, or information management from an accredited college or university.
2. Additionally, one (1) year of progressively responsible work experience is desired which showcases the ability to perform patron/public services, technical services, and/or library automation service functions.
3. Must be familiar with office software products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
4. Must have the ability to communicate orally and in writing.
HIGHLY PREFERRED CRITERIA:
1. Have a background or experience in providing programing based on STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Arts Mathematics) curricula.
2. Front line customer service experience.
3. At least one (1) year experience providing customer service in an Army MWR Library and/or public library.
4. Masters in Library Science or equivalent from an American Library Association accredited institution.
5. Experience maintaining library networks and Makerspace technology.
