About the Position: As a Legal Assistant located at HQ, U.S. ARMY FORSCOM STAFF JUDGE ADVOCATE, Fort Liberty, NC. Fort Liberty is a culturally diverse area with rural and city populations, co-located at Fayetteville, NC centrally located in the beautiful state of North Carolina, which enjoys a temperate year-round climate and world-renowned colleges and universities. Fayetteville is centrally located between the beautiful beaches of North Carolina and the scenic Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountains.

Duties

Reviews completed documents for procedural adherence to guidelines, initiates corrective actions as necessary, and coordinates review of actions by staff attorneys as required. May record and transcribe testimony from tapes of courts-martial, depositions, and other hearings as required. Maintains transcript files and exhibits. Takes sworn statements and assists in interviewing potential witnesses. Maintains case files and corrects file deficiencies or discrepancies.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET Security Clearance.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315
