Incumbent of this position performs routine and specialized tasks in completing sanitation duties in critical care areas such as the Cardiac Care Unit (CCU), Intensive Care Units (MICU & SICU). Step-down Unit or Operating Rooms; as assigned.
Duties
Duties include and are not limited to:
Must have knowledge in these skills:
Knowledge of waste removal, dusting, polishing, dust-mopping, clamp mopping: cleaning of urinals. sinks, commodes; restocking supplies such as towels or tissues, cleaning equipment used. performing periodic maintenance checks, etc..
Isolation cleaning, terminal cleaning, performing aseptic cleaning techniques. etc .
Sanitation techniques for maintaining an aseptically clean and aesthetically pleasing environment as well as for the protection and safety of patients. visitors and staff alike
Skill with buffers. vacuum cleaners, etc
Experience with cleaning agents utilized in cleaning processes to obtain maximum effectiveness of products
Conforming to newly accepted methods. procedures or techniques
Must be capable are you of accepting supervisory advice from the critical care area nursing supervisor and being tolerant and tactful when coming in contact with others
Ability to stoop, bend, walk, do some moderate lifting, climb stepladders in completing tasks such as mopping dusting, refinishing. etc .
Capable are you of reading instructions/directions on cleaning products and machines with minimal supervision
knowledge for following all safety regulations and practices
Completes routine assignments independently
Ability to follow general instructions to perform tasks
Completes work timely and in compliance with instruction, with supervisory checks on random basis.
Ability to perform routine operator maintenance on equipment.
Completing specialized tasks in completing sanitation duties in critical care areas such as the Cardiac Care Unit (CCU), Intensive Care Units (MICU & SICU). Step-down Unit or Operating Rooms; as assigned.
Cleaning of the patient discharge unit consists of washing (with a germicidal detergent solution): the mattress. springs. and frame of bed (previously stripped of linen by nursing personnel): the bedside stand, overbed table. patient/visitor's side-chair, reading lamp, and other auxiliary items as determined by the Housekeeping Aid Foreman.

Physical Requirements: The duties performed require incumbent to stoop, bend, walk, do some moderate lifting, climb stepladders in completing tasks such as mopping dusting, refinishing. etc ..
Work Environment: The incumbent will often be exposed to a tense atmosphere when working in these areas.
He/she will be exposed to contaminated areas frequently, skin irritations from the large variety of sanitizers/germacidals used, mechanical or electrical hazards, or other occupational related hazards.
Incumbent will be assigned to tours of duty as needed to maintain adequate coverage.
