This National Guard position is for a PRIMARY PREVENTION SPECIALIST (PREV WF) - TITLE 5, Position Description Number PDT0061P01 and is part of the KY COA, National Guard.
Duties
As a PRIMARY PREVENTION SPECIALIST (PREV WF) - TITLE 5, GS-0101-12, you will advance policies, practices, and plans for equities specific to self-directed and interpersonal harm primary prevention. Establish procedures, mission objectives, and organizational design to eliminate barriers to mission accomplishment. Facilitate dialogue to capture existing risk and protective factors related to prevention of self-directed and interpersonal harm. Conduct educational sessions and briefings for leadership regarding the primary prevention of self-directed and interpersonal harm. Assist TAG, Assistant TAG, IPP Officer, directorate, and leadership to resource self-directed and interpersonal harm primary prevention activities and requirements. Coordinate with full-time personnel managing resiliency, suicide, or substance/drug misuse programs. Analyze survey data and recommend changes to trainings. Support the IPP Officer in the development and execution of TAG primary prevention strategic plan. Support JFHQ data collection efforts and advocate prevention messaging with sensitivity to pre-existing trauma. Stay informed of best practices in primary prevention by attending seminars, conferences, and other educational sessions. Collaborate with state and local agencies to coordinate efforts and learn best practices. Support and participate in state-level committees, boards, and working groups. Serve as the PPI's point of contact for all self-directed and interpersonal harm prevention efforts and conduct Site Assistance Visits. Assist the IPP Officer in managing information flow between JFHQ, Wings, Brigades (Regions), and NGB. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
Must have at least one (1) year experience at the next lower level in the normal line of progression through federal service (GS-09) or equivalent experience in the private or public sector that demonstrates the experience and knowledge of Primary Prevention efforts relating to self-directed and interpersonal harm. Experience in the organization, management, and administration of programs and services to participate in self-directed and interpersonal harm prevention program planning. Experience collecting data, creating reports, and maintaining proper records. Experience preparing and conducting briefings to senior leaders and management. Knowledge of laws, regulations, executive orders, issues, etc., relating to the primary prevention of self-directed and interpersonal harm.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Education
Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position that included at least 24 semester hours of course work in the behavioral or social sciences.

Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field that included at least 24 semester hours of course work in the behavioral or social sciences.

Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
